Film & Script Analysis

The unconscious
of the work.

Psychoanalytic film and script analysis — for screenwriters, filmmakers, festivals, and cultural institutions. The stance is analytic, not editorial: I read the work for what it is doing, not for what it should become.

01

What the work
is actually doing.

Every film, and every script before it, has a structure beneath its surface.

A logic of desire, gaze, identification, and lack organises what the work does to its audience without their awareness. I read that structure at the level of the screenplay, the scene, the character, and the cultural moment the work speaks from.

The stance is analytic, not editorial — interpretive, not prescriptive. I don't hand you notes on how to fix the third act; I tell you what the work is actually doing, and why it grips or fails to. For writers and directors that means script and narrative analysis at depth. For festivals and institutions it means another register — curatorial logic, programme coherence, and the desire embedded in what gets commissioned and shown.

"Read the work for what it is doing — not for what it should become."
